Advancing urban sustainability through innovative water management strategies

➡️Discover how Montreal is rethinking urban water management through innovative solutions like sponge parks and green street infrastructure. These initiatives help capture and manage rainwater, reducing flooding risks while creating greener, more livable public spaces. With millions of liters of stormwater redirected during extreme weather, these projects are already transforming neighborhoods across the city. Beyond their environmental impact, sponge parks also offer everyday benefits as vibrant community spaces.

🌳Come and learn how to:

  • Leverage sponge parks and green street infrastructure to manage urban stormwater and reduce flood risks.
  • Integrate nature-based solutions into urban planning to enhance climate resilience, reduce heat islands, and improve public spaces.
  • Coordinate across municipal departments and stakeholders to deliver large-scale, sustainable water management projects.

Intended Audience:

  • Municipal staff working in public works, water management, sustainability, parks and recreations, or community services
  • Staff working in public health
